3.1.1 Basic Concept of Network (Part 1)

LEARNING OUTCOME : Students should be able to explain the basic concept of network.

I start my class by asking the students what is the first thing they do when they wake up every morning. Most of the students will answer, " Check my phone".

Me : Why do you need to check your phone?

Student 1 : To check messages in WhatsApp.

Student 2 : To update my Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

Student 3 : To play games like Candy Crush.

Student 4 : To make video call to my mom.

All the things that you use on your smartphone every day clearly shows how important network is in our daily lives. Without network, you cannot do any of those things you just mentioned.

Student 3 : What does network got to do with playing games?

Me : You need network to download the games. You need network to update the progress of your games on social media. You need network to invite other players to join you.

Basically, anything that you use or do that allows you to connect with other people needs network.
